How to Update Your Legacy CMS Website Design! 2025!

To our Legacy Customers using SU2018,

You may be wondering, what in the world are my website update options?! It's like looking at a wrinkled walrus with those early 2000s style website designs.

There's a bunch of freelance web designers out there going around looking for a website just like yours to charge you upwards of $10k to redesign!

That sounds like it's not for the faint of wallet.

Especially if you're a non-profit with a non-profit budget.

Here is a compilation of all your options for updating your SimpleUpdates website design Done-For-You, so you can make the informed decision:

Number 1:

We could give your site a design overhaul on the SU2018 system for a fraction of what most of these guys charge.

Cost: $1500* or less regardless of site size. Our process is to implement an existing SU theme and do some CSS changes, like we did on the theme for pastortonycsw.com , for example.

Note: Do not try to install a new theme on SU2018 without backing up all the page content off the site. It doesn't always transfer theme to theme (but still saves a lot of time because the pages all remain created, so you do not have to create new pages).

Number 2:

We can move your entire site over to our all-new CMS (SUStudio - a drag-and-drop builder) with a whole new design included.

Cost: A ten page site costs around $1000* to do, 20 pages, not quite twice that, and upward.

That would make it very easy for you to make design changes yourself anytime you want with no coding required ever and very low risk of losing content (the delete button is how, of course!).

Number 3 (The non-SU option):

Most likely a freelancer/contractor would move the site off of SU2018 and set up a brand new site.

They would set the site up on whatever platform they want to use and design it for you, and then send us the DNS settings to point the domain to the new site, or request the transfer code to finish the transfer of the domain away from SimpleUpdates.

Cost: A lot. This will almost certainly be the most costly option. It would include whatever cost there is to set up the new site, the cost of the platform, hosting, etc.

Of course there are DIY options. Such as building on SUStudio yourself.

We also offer monthly and weekly update plans that will save you more per hour.

*These estimates are based on our usual $120/hour rate.

We hope that helps you decide what to do with a website that may be starting to look like it was new when your parents were kids.

When you are ready to go, let us know.
